ご報告

こんにちは。本日は皆様にご報告があります。

私、石川佳純は、4月のWTTチャンピオンズ・マカオ大会をもちまして現役を引退することを決めました。
最後の試合まで、これまで通りに集中し全力で戦う為に、事前にお伝えすることができませんでした。
今年に入ってからは、大会毎に「この試合が最後になるかもしれない」と思いながら臨み、
今、自分の中ではやり切ったという思いが強く、引退を決意した次第です。

7歳で卓球を始めた私の、現役生活23年間にはたくさんの素晴らしい経験がありました。
全日本選手権で5度の優勝を。オリンピックではロンドンから3大会連続でのメダル獲得。
そして混合ダブルスでの世界一。

他にも思い出深い試合はたくさんあります。
14歳から日本代表として国際大会に参加させていただき、
長い間、世界のトップレベルで戦ったこと、たくさんの夢を叶えられたことを幸せに思います。

現役生活が長くなればなるほど、周りのサポートがあっての自分だという思いが大きくなりました。
指導いただいたコーチ、トレーナー。長時間の練習に付き合ってくれた練習相手の方々、友人、そして家族。
同じ気持ちで戦ってくれた私のチームに、心からの感謝を伝えたいです。

また、プロ選手としての活動を長い間支えていただきました、所属である全農様。
ニッタク様、アシックス様、レゾナック様、長州産業様、TOTO様、
エアウィーヴ様、ケアリッツ・アンド・パートナーズ様、木下アビエル神奈川様。
各スポンサーの皆様に感謝を申し上げます。

そしてライバルでもあり、友人でもある選手たちにも感謝を伝えます。
競技に対する姿勢、勝負の難しさ、厳しい競争の中で学んだことはたくさんありました。
常に高いモチベーションで自分自身を磨き続けることができました。

最後に、いつも応援して下さるファンの皆様、ありがとうございました。
嬉しい時、悔しい時、どんな時も私の気持ちに寄り添い、応援して下さった皆様に感謝しています。
私のプレーを見て、応援いただいた皆様の明日が、
少しでも前向きになっているとしたら、自分自身こんなに嬉しいことはありません。

これからまた新しいスタートとなりますが、
卓球を通じて学んだチャレンジ精神を忘れずに、色々なことに挑戦していきたいと思います。

Hello, I have a report for you today.

I, Kasumi Ishikawa, have decided to retire after the WTT Champions Macau tournament in April. I wanted to concentrate on the game until the last game and fight with my 100%, so I couldn’t tell in advance. Since the beginning of this year, I have been thinking that every game may be my last. Now, I have a strong feeling that I have completed it, and I made a decision to retire.

I started playing table tennis when I was 7 years old, and during my 23 years as an active player, I had many wonderful experiences. Winning medals in three consecutive Olympic games at London, Rio and Tokyo, becoming world champion in mixed doubles, winning national championships five times, and there are many other memorable matches. Since I was 14 years old, I had an opportunity to participate in international competitions as a national member of Japan. For a long time, I have been able to compete at the top level of the world and am happy to make many of my dreams come true.

The longer my career has been, the more I realize that I cannot be at this place without the support around me. I thank very much coaches, trainers and hitting partners who have been with me during my long practices, my friends, and my family. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my team who fought with the same feeling.

I would also like to express my thank you to the players who are both rivals and friends. There were many things I learned toward the tough competition, such as the attitude for the game and the difficulty of the game. I was always highly motivated, which enabled me to keep improving myself.

And finally, thank you to all the fans who have been cheering for me.

No matter when I was happy or I was down, I am grateful to everyone who have been with me anytime. I couldn’t be more happier if you become a little bit more positive for your future by seeing myself playing.

This is a new start, I would like to challenge various things without forgetting the spirit of challenge that I learned through the table tennis.
